This vase is extra special, not only because of the rich surface created from the atmospheric firing in combination with the glazes, but because it was created during a retreat time while I attended a workshop in Maine last year.

During the firing, the live flame was fueled by gas and wood, soda ash and salt were added during the firing to enhance surface effects on the pieces in the kiln. Wheel thrown with a warm brown stoneware and finished with various slips and glazes.

Hand washing recommended.
